Mukhtar Bizrah is the Clinical Director of Harley Vision. He is a consultant refractive, cornea and cataract surgeon at the Western eye hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and ex-unit training lead for ophthalmology.

Mr Bizrah is multi-fellowship trained (UK & Canada) in advanced refractive, cataract and cornea surgery. He is one of the few ophthalmic surgeons in the world has achieved multi-board certification and fellowship recognition across the UK, USA, Canada and Europe:

Mr Bizrah at Harley Vision is a leading Harley Street eye surgeon who is an internationally recognised expert in advanced refractive, cataract and corneal surgery.

The clinical expertise at Harley Vision covers the full spectrum of modern state-of-the-art vision correction surgery, including:

  • Laser eye surgery (e.g. LASIK, LASEK) with wavefront technology
  • Custom lens replacement surgery: Multifocal, EDOF, trifocal and Galaxy lenses
  • Cataract surgery: Advanced premium lens options
  • Implantable collamer lens (ICL) surgery
  • Modern keratoconus treatment: Including CAIRS, corneal collagen cross-linking, and transepithelial PTK laser
  • Cornea transplants (partial and full thickness)
  • Pterygium surgery: Modern No Stitch technique

At Harley Vision, Mr Bizrah regularly performs complex cornea procedures such as:

  • CAIRS surgery for keratoconus

  • PTK laser for recurrent cornea erosion syndrome, corneal scarring or dystrophies

  • Corneal transplantation (DMEK, DSAEK, DALK, PK)

  • Laser-guided corneal surface remodelling (e.g. wavefront-guided laser eye surgery)
  • Advanced diagnostics and second opinions for challenging cataract, corneal and refractive surgery cases

Mukhtar Bizrah is a speaker at international conferences (e.g. ESCRS), contributes to surgical innovation and training globally, and is committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based care.

Ophthalmology training

Mr Bizrah completed advanced refractive, cornea and cataract surgery fellowships at two of the world’s most renowned eye institutions:

• Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Western eye hospital (London, UK)
• University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Mukhtar Bizrah completed his core ophthalmology training at the London deanery. This included 2 years at the Western Eye Hospital and 2 years at Moorfields eye hospital.

Undergraduate training

University College London (UCL) and St George’s, University of London. He won numerous awards by the time he completed undergraduate training, including London Student of the Year award, Royal Society of Medicine Brigadier Haywood prize and Wellcome Trust Research Prize.

Prizes, awards & research

Mukhtar Bizrah is actively involved in research, is an author on over 50 research articles and international presentations. Mr Bizrah has won 26 awards and prizes on an International, national and regional level.

Other interests

Medical Education

Mukhtar Bizrah is the founder & co-director of world-renowned London Eye Course, the largest ophthalmology revision course in Europe & North America. He is also the founder of the London laser and refractive surgery (LRS) course.

Humanitarian work

Mukhtar is establishing links with the Tanzania to support ophthalmology training, and to facilitate eye healthcare service to those unable to afford this. Through the London Eye Institute, Mukhtar aims to raise £20,000 a year to support this initiative.
